About My Black Colorado

We are Brandon & Jini Bornes, the founders of My Black Colorado.  My Black Colorado is a for-profit, social impact subsidiary of BornesPro Multimedia located in Colorado Springs. The mission of My Black Colorado is to facilitate a cohesive ecosystem of the local black community to inspire, innovate and connect local black communities together. Since our launch in 2018, we have made great strides towards that goal, creating the largest black directory in Colorado, publishing 5 magazines, hosting local vendors fairs, recruiting a team of consultant and brand ambassadors, launching subscription services, sponsoring initiatives that invest into the black community, and more.  Our website engagement has doubled every year, and most people find out about us through word of mouth or social media or the news.

99% of all out content in created by the local black community and from the perspective of the black experience in Colorado.  All our content is family friendly.  Before COVID-19, Our Magazines were in all the Colorado Springs Libraries, and we had already signed a contract for release in all the Denver libraries.  We were also in the planning stages to provide all our content into multiple school districts in Colorado and around the state, including multiple colleges and universities.  We hope to follow up with these initiatives in 2021.

We are releasing 4 new editions in 2021 and updating/republishing 4 editions from 2020.  The 4 new editions will focus on 4 different topics: Youth, Military, beauty, and health.  The 4 republished editions, (arts & entertainment, History, Educations and Product Vendors) will have new covers and updated content, and updated sponsor information.

2020 Highlights

• 700 Black listings added to our online Directory (1200 total listings)
• Online Marketplace created, including an android app, 137 vendors applied to be on our vendor marketplace
• Consultants and editors team grew to 17 people.  13 members of our team have received payment for work that they have done with us.
•  13,253 follow our social media profiles
• 231 print & digital subscriptions in 2020 (our first year of launching subscription service)
• + 69,000 website views on myblackcolorado.com, from 65 different countries
• 3,628 different people opened MY Black Colorado Emails
•  700+ Print magazines sold
• +350 people and business featured in our magazines
•  4 premier sponsors, Eastern Colorado Bank, Pikes Peak Small Business Development Center, Colorado Springs Utilities, Cultural Office of the pike’s peak region

Become A Sponsor In 2021

In 2020, we have had over 231 individuals, from our community financially invest into My Black Colorado by purchasing a paid subscription, this helps tremendously in creating a sustainable org supported by the community.  We sold over 700 print copies of our magazines to households around Colorado. We are asking you to join the community by sponsoring us financially in a show of solidarity with larger Colorado community, and help us to excel by helping offset financial costs.

Your sponsorships will provide funding to offset overhead costs of managing My Black Colorado. These costs include printing, advertising, and content management costs.  It will also offset our service contacts by helping us pay the 13 members of our editorial team that we already pay to write content for us. In 2020, we spent $18,828 to cover these costs. Our Budget for 2021 in $26,000.

Any organization can sponsor us at this level.  Your business name and logo will be added.    We thank all our financial sponsors and subscribers near the front of our magazine for helping support our work.

We Have 10 Feature Sponsorship Opportunities for Each Magazine in 2021 (Geared specifically for black sponsors who want to financially support My Black Colorado and have a featured interview about their business or themselves)

• To Be Featured In 1 Issue, $150 for a 2-page spread, 1 full page image, and 1 article that our editorial team helps create.
• If you choose to be included in 4 editions, it will be $500
• To be included in all 8 editions released , it will be $800
• Pillar Sponsorships include 1 print edition of each magazine that you are sponsor

We have 3 Premier Sponsorship Opportunities for each magazine in 2021, there will be 8 Magazines Editions in 2021

Premier sponsorships include 10 print magazines of issue you sponsor. Also includes sponsorship recognition on the bottom of all our online featured listings that are in that magazine issue.  All sponsorship ads that are in the magazine are required to have prominent black representation on your sponsorship ad if you include images of people, due to our magazine purpose of representing and lifting the black community

We have 1 Platinum Sponsorship Opportunity for each magazine in 2021, there will be 8 Magazines Editions in 2021

6 Page Spread Content Feature ($6,000) Highlighting black employees in your company workplace.  Platinum sponsorships include 10 print magazines of issue you sponsor. Also includes sponsorship recognition on the bottom of all our online featured listings that are in that magazine issue.  All sponsorship ads that are in the magazine are required to have prominent black representation on your sponsorship ad if you include images of people, due to our magazine purpose of representing and lifting the black community.

Updated Publication Strategy

• Instead of waiting until magazine is published to release new content. We will release new content features as soon as they are finished.  We will release our content on social media, email, and our websites.   When magazines are finished, we will promote their release on all platforms.  All Premier and Platinum Sponsors in 2021 will be recognized on all our digital features at the bottom of the articles, with links to your website.
• All new and republished magazines sold in 2021 will have updated sponsor list. The 2020 sponsors will not be in the updated, reprints of former releases, due to us having new content, new covers and rebranding.
• Roughly half of all our features will be from Colorado Springs area, and the other half from Denver area, due to those having the biggest populations where we pull content from.
