Kara R. Cayce is an emerging leader passionate about serving as a resource to the Denver
community and beyond. Kara is a native of Denver, Colorado, graduating magna cum
laude from Temple University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. Kara was
awarded her Juris Doctorate degree from Georgetown University Law Center. While in
law school, Kara merged her interests in writing and diversity by serving as an Executive
Articles Editor for the Georgetown Journal of Law & Modern Critical Race Perspectives.
Kara currently serves as an Administrative Law Judge with the Office of Administrative
Courts. Kara presides over workers’ compensation matters, ensuring the law is applied
judiciously in order to obtain a fair and accurate resolution and the parties receive due
As a licensed attorney, Kara has worked in both the public and private sectors acquiring a
broad and unique skill set, which she constantly seeks to cultivate to be able to best serve
businesses and individuals in the community. Kara has experience as a corporate and
securities attorney, providing legal counsel to public and private companies regarding an
array of legal matters, including mergers and acquisitions, formation and organization,
corporate governance, and financing. In her experience as a community organizer, Kara
worked to assist low-wage communities by working on local and national legislative
initiatives and conducting employment law trainings.
A recipient of the Colorado Civil Rights Commission’s Martin Luther King Jr.
Humanitarian award, Kara has strived to serve as an advocate for marginalized individuals.
Kara fervently believes it is her duty to use her experience and knowledge to assist and
empower others, particularly youth. She volunteers with LYRIC (Learn Your Right in
Colorado), teaching youth in schools, juvenile justice facilities and community settings
about their constitutional rights. Kara is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society, the
Colorado Bar Association, and the Sam Cary Bar Association. She is a 2014 graduate of
the Urban Leadership Foundation of Colorado’s ULF Connect Leadership Program.
Having studied abroad at the Center for Transnational Legal Studies in London, United
Kingdom and traveled to various other countries, Kara is passionate about traveling and
experiencing other cultures. Kara finds value in each experience and seeks to use every
opportunity to grow to reach her full potential in order to fully serve others.
